World Religions Book. Among the scholarly writings existing on contemporary world religions, many focus on the historical aspect of religions, from their founding by exceptional mythical or real figures, to their current situation, which is not the most enviable given their internally tolerated pluralization and externally institutionalized relativization. Recently, in Quebec, a cultural approach to religions has been developed in connection with ethical issues to adapt to this situation, particularly in the field of primary and secondary education. This book proposes a different approach. This approach aims to be more aware of the religious purpose as a quest for truth on the great questions that have haunted humanity since ancient times. Religions have never been solely cultural phenomena constructed as free expressions of human genius. In addition to being cultural forms, religions have always expressed a deeper human search, a quest for meaning concerning human life and reality. Through a comparative approach based on historical data, in ten following categories or concepts developed for this purpose, this book attempts to bring into debate the various answers formulated for these fundamental questions by the best-known religions of the contemporary world.
